Thirty-six or "The Long and the Short"

I don't know about you, but it rarely occurs to me to wear a maxi skirt in winter. Probably because the ground tends to be so permanently wet or muddy that the thought of trailing a soggy hem and a collection of leaves in my wake, well, that's just not appealing. There's also the issue of what kind of coat to wear it with - personally I prefer a shorter top with a long skirt and all my winter coats are longer than waist length, aargh the trivial problems that modern life can create!

Yesterday though, all the fashion forces came together so I could wear a maxi, in a suitably wintery hue (called 'burgundy' in summer, now seasonally rebranded as 'oxblood'): the weather was beautiful, plus I managed to assemble a good enough collection of thermal undergarments that my short leather jacket and cropped chunky sweater became viable.

As you can see it was a VERY bright day yesterday, which is great for getting much-needed Vitamin D, but bad for trying to take pictures. I was squinting in the vast majority of them, as well as looking vampirically pale. Here's one of the better outtakes:

My photographer du jour, the lovely Valérie, has also got in on the shot

I busted out some recent accessory purchases too, an icicle-esque necklace and some knuckleduster rings:

You want to see some of the less flattering squinty and deathly pale shots? Oh go on then, it gives me a chance to play with collages:

And my obligatory airborne shot. Not quite sure why I keep jumping, but it's fun and this one involves more squinting:

If you're still reading, check out my early-days rambling blog post (here) for an incident I witnessed on a bus back in the summer. The guy in question sat next to me this morning on the same bus, look what he was wearing! Aw, I love it when a story has a happy ending.

Paparazzo Jo strikes again

  1. I always think of maxis as being summery but this one look so good with all your cosies! I might just have to dig mine out (maybe once the snow's gone though so I don't end up with a soggy white hemline...) x
