Manicure Monday: Barry M Textured Nail Effect

I have noticed that there are a lot of novelty nail polishes around at the moment with various different effects and finishes to be had: magnetic-abled marbling, platinum skulls, fake caviar, feathers, leather... pleather? So as I stopped at the Barry M counter the other day, I was immediately drawn to their new line of textured nail polishes. There were four pastel hues to choose from and I eventually decided on Kingsland Road, a creamy pale pink.

I applied two coats of Kingsland Road before it became completely opaque. Then added a third coat just for the heck of it - wild and crazy times! It dries fairly quickly to a grainy gritty texture with a matte finish, not unlike cement (which I think is the point). However, mainly because of the pink colour, I kept thinking it looked like I'd been dipping my nails in blancmange all day!

Moving on.. whilst the textured effect is quite subtle, you can see it in these photos:

Despite the school dinners reference above, I actually quite like this nail polish. I thought it would be similar to glitter in being difficult to remove, but I can report that it was very easy to take off - especially if you use a good base coat. At only £3.99 per bottle I might even try out the other colours, so not bad at all!

  3. The pink is nicer than the yellow one I got. I did a blog post on this a couple of days ago and I wasn't a fan of the texture. It's interesting to see it in a different colour.
