Dead Canary Comics

Now, I've really never been into comics at all and neither have I undergone any kind of recent comic-loving conversion epiphany. Despite this, today I found myself helping 'man' a stand at a comic book convention! (The Comica Comiket Independent Comic Fair, to be precise). Not such a strange scenario when you consider that my uber-talented boyfriend and his mates recently published their first title 'Frogman' under their comic publishing label Dead Canary Comics. Holy geek out, Batman! Zoinks! Etc...

Why am I telling you this, fashion fans? Well, Dead Canary Comics have a rather wonderful T-shirt for such occasions and I proudly sported one today whilst at said convention and thought I would share the whole outfit with you. Pow pow pow!

Yes, I even matched my nails. They were quite the hit, I can tell you!

I was genuinely so impressed at the incredibly high standard of artwork on display whilst I perused the other stands, charmingly handing over Dead Canary business cards. I was especially taken with Zarina Liew's beautiful watercolour fashion illustrations and I bought a couple of her prints. Check out her Cobalt Cafe website, she's awesome!

On Sunday I'll continue with the comics theme as I'm going along to the Lichenstein exhibition at the Tate Modern to take in some pop art imagery. Am I having a varied and cultural weekend, or what!

My Outfit:
T-shirt: Uniqlo Men's + Home-made Transfer
Joni Jeans: Topshop Petite
Creepers, Rings: Primark
Beanie: Topman (my boyfriend's)
Brown Strap Bracelet: H&M (old)

Clockwise from top left:
Matt & Mark: Frogman creators / Frogman cover / "Buy this!" / Free badges

Disclaimer: No canaries or frogs or any creatures whatsoever have been harmed here. Obviously.

  1. Yellow and black is such a great colour combination x

    1. It is, isn't it. I was surprised by how much I liked it!

  2. I am so jealous. Comic conventions are a slippery slope... one minute you are sporting a tee the next you are in full Black Canary get up, complete with fishnet tights and leather jacket. You look fab in the tee though and the nail art is super cute. Will be sure to check out Dead Canary Comics now as I love an Indie Publish. x

    1. Haha, I know what you mean! I'll be staying away from the cosplay though... for now..

  3. Great post and blog dear.
What about following each other? Let me know!
    Have a great day!

Thanks for visitingI Feel free to comment and leave your blog link, I'll definitely check it out.
