Motel Rocks Tartan Dress

Each season I tend to develop an obsession with one thing or another from the fashion world. Over the summer it was smock dresses, whilst this autumn/winter it is most definitely tartan. I can't get enough of it! So combine a smock dress and a tartan print and I'm swooning all the way to Christmas. CHECK it out! (guffaw...)

So far this Motel Rocks dress is the third plaid piece residing in my wardrobe, in addition to a tartan scarf and a T-shirt. I'm now turning my quest towards leggings and have my eye on this petite pair from Topshop. Roll on payday!

I should probably also mention how I've recently embarked on an unprecedented boots buying bonanza in Topshop. They're killing me with their beautiful booty! Here I'm wearing the first of three (gulp) pairs that I've managed to acquire in as many days, but it should be immediately obvious why I just had to have them. Just look at them!

Are you obsessed with tartan (and boots) as much as I am? Should I check myself into retail rehab? Do I need an intervention?

Warehouse SS14 Press Day

Recently I attended the Warehouse Spring Summer 2014 Press Day in Shoreditch, having received an invitation from the absolutely lovely Melissa from I eagerly raced over there during my lunch break, keen to get a sneak peek of what trends to expect to see in the shops early next year. Let me just say, genuinely... WOW! I'll let the pictures do the talking so you can see for yourself. Hurry up, spring/summer! - I need all these clothes!

First up, a collaboration with Philli Wood. This had a sports luxe feel, consisting of lightweight fabrics in bright pinks, oranges and monochrome in prints reminiscent of cable knit.

Round the corner was an absolutely beautiful pastels range which I've dubbed Lady Penelope's Wardrobe: I fell in love with these lace sorbet separates with a vintage/50s influence. There were some stunning co-ords which made me daydream of wearing my hair in a beehive whilst driving round in a matching Nissan Figaro (as you do). Perfect ladylike chic.

Next up, leather and denim casuals which are right up my street. My personal favourite was an awesome black biker jacket - I can't wait for spring to be able to buy it! There were also cami tops and separates in the most perfect monotone prints. I WANT ALL OF IT IMMEDIATELY!

Lastly there was the neon collection - simple retro shapes in loud bright neons... admittedly a colour palette which is difficult to suit to my skintone. However, there was an oh-so-cool shift dress in a floral print on black which for me is the perfect way to incorporate neons into my wardrobe. Pretty please can I have it?

I nearly forgot.. there were accessories too! Check out these beauties:

Thanks again to Melissa from for inviting me!

If you can't wait for next year's offerings, check out Warehouse's current range of black dresses, perfect for the Christmas party season. So pretty. I die.

What do you think of this peek into the fashion future? Do you like the look of Warehouse's SS14 collection?

Black Sequin Jumper

It's almost impossible to avoid sequins at this time of year, so here I am giving a cursory nod to the upcoming festive season. I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the combination of sequins and leather have turned out - what do you reckon??

Believe it or not, this glorious glitter ball of a jumper is from Bonmarché, which I have to admit is not a shop I have stepped foot in. Ever. They contacted me to say they're trying to appeal to younger customers by bringing on board some different designers and asked me to take a look at their new additions. I have to admit the majority is not really to my taste, however there were a few jumpers that caught my eye so I decided to go for this very one. I actually love it! So it just goes to show.. sometimes it's worth looking outside of your clothing comfort zone because you just might find something cool.

H&M Bouclé Boyfriend Coat

I mentioned in this previous post how I'd seen an awesome coat in H&M that I wanted to get but just could not decide on which colour. Guess what... I bought it. Obviously. It had become too much of an obsession to ignore! In the end the colour choice was a no-brainer: I chose grey over red, purely for versatility. This lightweight coat is perfect for milder winter days and oversized enough to allow plenty of chunky layers to be worn underneath. I LOVE IT *sighs blissfully*.

I thought I'd also take this opportunity to share some of my other recent purchases, all in the pursuit of winter warmth... 'cos I become a right whinger if I get cold. We can't have that. I found these super-cute fingerless gloves? mittens? in Monki and snatched them up immediately. They have barely left my hands since I bought them.

The boots I saw on a wishlist on the lovely Charlotte's wonderful blog Ordaining Serendipity and just knew that I needed them too. I don't often shop in New Look but I really think they constantly excel themselves in the range of footwear available - I shall be stalking the New Look website more often!

Other news... did anyone go to see any fireworks displays this weekend? I joined the crowds at Alexandra Palace to see the spectacle up there, it was great to have a display held back in my 'hood again. This is my favourite time of year with Halloween closely followed by Bonfire Night, it's all downhill now until spring as I can't bear winter... ooh, that's a gloomy finish. Sorry!
