|Hello, permanently painted toes|
As a pre-New Year resolution I decided on Christmas Eve to give my poor tootsies a break and leave them unpolished for a while, to allow time for the offending white patches to grow out. My resolve lasted a mere 24 hours and I got so sick of my unsightly toes that I started googling solutions. Initial results were scary - fungus! What?! And a whole array of vomit-inducing photos of gnarly nails. I swiftly realised this was NOT my particular issue - phew.
My problem is purely cosmetic, the nails have dried out because of over-enthusiastic polish application, so I googled some more and stumbled upon a surprising recommendation: Vicks VapoRub! I rummaged through the bathroom cabinet, found a tub and immediately massaged some into my poor nails, whilst remaining sceptical (yet desperate enough to try it all the same).
On waking up this morning I was stunned to see the majority of the whiteness had disappeared! Actually disappeared! There's still a tiny bit of white on the worst affected areas - the tips of my big toes - but otherwise they look much more like a normal person's toe nails. Amazing!
I'm going to continue using this magic potion twice a day for the next week or so and see if it gets rid of all the white completely - I'll report back in due course. Luckily for you I didn't take any photos of my nails in the pre-Vicks state. Here's how they look now after last night's first application and it is nothing short of a transformation - a Christmas miracle!
|Tadaah! Admittedly still not pretty, but definitely on the road to recovery.|
So there we have it, who knew that the cure for my pedi problem was languishing in my bathroom cabinet all this time?!
Have you ever heard of using Vicks VapoRub for nails before? Do you have any surprising or random beauty solutions? I'd love to hear them!
