Time for a beauty post today.. 'cos it's been bloomin' ages! A few weeks ago a colleague went to the States and kindly stopped by Sephora for me, dutifully picking up some items which I knew I couldn't (at the time) get in the UK. Top of my list was the new Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics eyeshadow palette, which I had been desperate to try ever since I heard it existed. Admittedly, it has just become available on UK shores, so here's my (p)review for your delectation!
Like the first Naked Basics palette, the Naked 2 Basics consists of six neutral taupe shades, however they are cooler in tone than the first palette - I've included a comparison picture above (aren't I helpful). The first shade, Skimp, is a very pale demi-matte perfect for highlighting. The other five shades are all matte, ranging from the equally pale Stark to the darkest brown Undone. Like all Urban Decay eyeshadows, the quality of the product is fantastic - velvety soft powder which blends amazingly and stays put all day. What can I say, I'm in love!
In these photos I'm wearing my usual everyday make up and this palette has fitted seamlessly into my routine. I highlighted my brow bones with Skimp, then swept Stark all over the lids up to said brow bones. I finished by blending Frisk into the crease, using the Real Techniques Deluxe Crease Brush for all three steps. I'm lazy like that. As I'm so pale, this combo gives a perfect 'my skin but better' base to show off my favourite cat eye liquid liner. It's the purrfect palette for me! (Sorry, I have a pun problem).
